I'm excited to be speaking at Small Biz Banking 2024! This is where the industry’s top minds will discuss strategies and technologies that help banks create unique solutions that attract and serve small businesses.
For the third year, I am honored the American Banker has invited me to speak at the Small Biz Banking conference about the issues women and diverse business owners continue to face when they seek support from banks.
Large and small. Local and national. Community-based and international in scope. Banks and credit unions. Small businesses rely on all of these for assistance and resources.
Small business owners want a relationship with their deposit and lending institution. How responsive bankers are to these business owners determines whether a relationship with these business owners will begin and whether they will thrive.
Since I founded SMC Marketing in 1996, my company's brand statement has always been, "It's all about growing the relationship." We have designed and implemented customer retention programs for super-regional and local banks since our founding. We understand the significance of the small business marketplace. We know what businesses are driving growth.
Small businesses have been driving the US economy for years. Since the pandemic, women- and diverse-owned small businesses have been growing, often at rates that exceed that of businesses owned by white males.
Personally, I celebrate this growth. It is significant.
Over the past 20 years, my company has collaborated primarily with banks and credit card companies. Our staff expertise reflects this diversity and knowledge. We provide resources for banks to customize and brand a program for their market.
This year, our Small Biz Banking conference session includes David Femi, M&T Bank; Devon Bray, US Bank; and, Todd Hollander, Lendistry. They bring extensive experience to this discussion. We will address the following items:
-
What issues face banks in developing their programs (integrated solution with internal resources)?
-
How does serving these small businesses contribute to bank’s revenue and profitability, CRA requirements, and lending objectives and how are these objectives measured?
-
What products have been designed specifically to help these businesses (e.g., Special Purpose Credit programs).
-
The intersection between community banking and small business banking (e.g., CDFIs).
I'm looking forward to seeing you at the #SmallBizBanking conference!
